TVEA Spotlight
Good Evening and Happy New Year to All!
First, I would like to share that we are thankful for where TVEA stands as an organization entering 2019, both internally and in our relationship with TVUSD and the community.
First, I am pleased to announce that we received formal notification in December that we are dual recipients of two CTA Statewide Communication Awards for the 2017-18 year. We once again were winners in the Digital Media Category for our website tveducators.org. Thank you to our office manager and webmaster Lisa Sisco for maintaining such a quality site for us. We also were recognized in the Special Membership Communications Category for our Spring 2018 series of information flyers, titled “Membership Matters”. We are confident this effort, combined with outreach to New Members in the 2018-19 year has maintained our high membership rate.
Second, we like TVUSD continue to build relationships with our community and develop partnerships advocating for public education. We participated in the City of Temecula Holiday Parade for the 4th year in a row, with teachers, students, and parents walking behind the TVEA banners along the parade route. I sit on the Temecula Valley Council PTA Executive Board as a teacher representative to work collaboratively with our key parent stakeholders. We also value our relationship with the Temecula Education Foundation and are meeting with them later this week to discuss how we can further support their efforts.
Finally, I would like to share with the Governing Board that we are looking forward to piloting a “Meet and Confer” Model with TVUSD this spring. Superintendent Ritter and I discussed this late in the fall as an opportunity to expand the TVUSD-TVEA table from our monthly Superintendent- TVEA President Meetings. He and I will determine two to three topics and invite appropriate TVEA and TVUSD personnel to these one-hour sessions scheduled for February 4th and April 29th.
It is our hope that this model will facilitate broader communication between district and association leaders and avoid policy discussions getting caught in what is known as bureaucratic red-tape.
We at TVEA look forward to an exceptional 2019 calendar year. Thank you.
