There are many benefits that you receive from joining our Association.
Duty of Full and Fair Representation
TVEA's primary responsibility is to represent our members in your relations with your Administrator and TVUSD. We are your representative in all matters relating to employment conditions wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
The protection of your employee rights and privileges under District policy and state law is of utmost importance.
TVEA members vote for and elect TVEA Officers, Executive Board Members, and Site Representatives from their site
TVEA meets with the TVUSD Superintendent, Human Resources, and Special Education departments regularly to bring forward TVEA member issues and concerns
TVEA assists members in processing Grievances (Contract Violations) including participating in Level I Problem Solving Meetings and appealing cases to the School Board in closed session.
Site Representatives help solve workpace issues at your site.
TVEA is your exclusive Bargaining Agent. Your bargaining team works continuously on your behalf to ensure salary compensation is adequate and comparable to surrounding districts, contract language is current and up to date with state mandates as well as, continually working towards bettering contract language to improve working conditions. The Collective Bargaining Agreement (your contract) is negotiated and improved regularly based on member input.
TVEA Members have benefitted from a substantial salary increase and increase in the TVUSD contribution to the Health Benefits Cap over the last year
Significant Improvements to acknowledging TVEA Employees have been made through such provisions as Temporary Expanded Class Compensation (Article 5.9), Maximum Daily Student Contact (11.2.2), and a Case Management Period for Special Education Teachers Grades 6-12 (5.6.1)
Two-Way Communication is extremely important to TVEA. We believe strong communication buils a stronger association.
TVEA seeks to communicate regularly with members through regular
e-mail blasts and site visits
Site Leaders are a liaison from your site to communicate with the TVEA Leadership Council. They share concerns and issues from your site to TVEA Leadership as well as communicate association business to the members at their site.
TVEA publishes a newsletter, The TVEA Advocate as well as hosts a CTA recognized website to notify members of events, conferences, grants, state and national news that impact our members.
TVEA's uses social media; Facebook, to communicate instantly with our members.
Student Success and Wellness
As educators we promote and reward student success in and out of the classroom
TVEA offers yearly scholarships to qualifying graduating seniors who are dependents of TVEA members and/or aspire to enter the field of education
We support academic activities such as Read Across America and student effort in being physically active through our Fun 2B Fit campaign and event. TVEA is sponsoring its first “Football Night” to recognize the efforts of our district’s athletes and coaches.
Our desire is to see you grow professionally as well as personally!
TVEA offers members participation in various committees including Fiscal, Political Action, Organizing, Special Education, Grievance, Insurance Advisory, and Elections for members to study and grow professionally
Members are encouraged to participate in the many CTA Conferences offered throughout the year such as Good Teaching, Leadership, etc.
TVEA offers occasional free professional workshops at the TVEA office on such topics as Member Benefits and Special Education for General Education Teachers
New Member Grant
Extra Support for Classrooms and Programs!
TVEA is offering supply grants to new TVEA/CTA members for the 2021-22 school year. The grant is intended to offer extra support for their instructional programs and classrooms. New TVEA Members may be reimbursed for up to their local TVEA dues equivalent to $249 in supplies during the 2021-22 school year. This amount will be prorated based on the amount of dues paid during the year. (ex. 80% contract = $199.20, 40% contract = $99.60, 100% contract hired October 2021 paid 9 months dues = $224.10). May and June dues will be assumed to have been received by TVEA.
