TVEA Spotlight

Good Evening,

Coming off the past weekend I would like to give a two-thumbs up to the Temecula Educational Foundation for their strong efforts in supporting our students and teachers through the Taste of the Valley Event this past weekend. The interest around the event seems to grow every year and it is a great way for the community to support public education in Temecula.

TVEA also wrapped up a community effort this past weekend with our inaugural TVEA/Assistance League Spring Cleaning Clothing Drive. We collected clothes at the TVEA office all last week and a substantial donation was delivered to our Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce partner the Assistance League on Saturday. We hope to make it an annual event.

Our members have been busy voting since the last TVUSD Board Meeting and TVEA Spotlight on April 20th.

From April 20-22 nearly 600 members cast electronic votes on ratification of the TVEA/TVUSD Tentative Agreement of March 19th. I am pleased to share that over 95% of our members voted YES to approve the agreement. Kudos to both TVUSD and TVEA Bargaining teams for crafting such a viable agreement.

Last week TVEA conducted elections for five of our twelve Executive Board positions for the period of July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2020.

Elected were:

-Anastasia Bortcosh, Teacher at Alamos Elementary School as one of two Elementary Area Representatives

-Melissa Gibson, Speech and Language Pathologist at Temecula Valley High and Vail Elementary as our Specialist Area Representative

Re-Elected Were:

  • Amy Eytchison, Teacher at Temecula Elementary School as Secretary

  • Edgar Diaz, Social Science Teacher at Gardner Middle School as Vice-President

  • And… Yours Truly… Jeff Kingsberg will return as TVEA President

On behalf of our entire Executive Board, we look forward to working with you the next two years.

Finally, we are wrapping up the execution of our annual Principal’s Survey. It is intended to provide feedback on site culture and leadership. We look forward to once again honoring selected Principals at our Principals Recognition Ceremony. The event will be Wednesday May 23 at 415pm in the Margarita Middle School MPR. We look forward to hearing the inspiring stories about the work of TVUSD Principals being recognized.
