December 3 TVEA/TVUSD Tentative Agreement has been Ratified by Members

-Nearly 600 members voted by a 90% YES to 10% NO to approve the agreement brought forward by the bargaining teams.

-It was a successful implementation to electronic voting as our primary voting method. All but three members opted to vote electronically as opposed to the paper ballot option

-I am pleased to see that we are building a strong consensus within our membership with the 97% YES vote in May and 90% YES vote last week on the recent TVEA/TVUSD Tentative Agreements

Governor’s Budget Proposal

-Last week Governor Jerry Brown gave his 2016-17 California Budget Proposal. TVEA followed this with interest as I am sure TVEA did.

- It appears to be another positive year ahead for education funding in California. There is a projected $2.8 billion increase statewide for LCFF funding and $1.2 billion in one-time discretionary funds. TVEA looks forward to providing stakeholder input up front about how these one-time monies can best support teaching and learning.

- We look forward to starting the Ad Hoc Budget Committee with TVUSD to reach common understanding about the overall TVUSD budget including potential compensation increases.

Fun 2 B Fit

-Our 2nd Annual Fun 2B Fit Community Event is scheduled for Saturday April 16 at Temecula Valley High School. The theme of the event is “Educators Encouraging Wellness”

- As last year we will host a 5K run as well as non-competitive field games for district elementary students.

We would be pleased to have you attend and even participate. We will be seeking local dignitaries to assist in tasks such as serving as the honorary starter for the 5K, handout medals at our awards ceremony, or assist on the field in supporting our own TVUSD students.
