Grievance Meeting Summaries

Meeting Summary

We are moving in a positive direction with grievances. We have seen some
movement regarding class size and mainstreaming with the language to be bargained
out this spring. We have two other grievances that are wrapping up with one soon to
be finished in a positive way for our member. The other may be moving on to level
four. We discussed the possibility of two grievances. One regarding evaluations will
not be pursued and another regarding PLC time and modified Wednesdays at the k-5
level. This will be moved to a level 1 grievance submitted by the association.

Meeting Summary

Grievance team met and discussed current and possible grievances.  The committee discussed contract language regarding 5.9, 5.10.1, 11.2, and 12.2.

5.9 addressed the use of counselors for period subbing at the middle school and high school.  The grievance team will be sending out a survey to gather more information before moving forward.

5.10.1 addressed PLC time on late start days, specifically what the obligation for the teacher is regarding PLC time and the minimum time needed to meet.

11.2 addressed class size numbers relating to mainstreaming students.  The district has proposed a meeting to address how the problem can be solved, possibly with an MOU similar to the high school and being over the cap.

12.2 addressed transfers and posting of jobs.
