Why
we oppose Governor Schwartzenegger's
Budget Proposal
It’s
Bad for Our Schools
·
The
current proposal cuts funding by $4.8
billion for California’s public
schools, that’s 10 million dollars
less for our local Temecula Schools
·
If
this budget is adopted, it is likely
that one or more Temecula schools will
be shut down
It’s
Bad for Our Teachers
·
Cutting
this funding could cause as many as
107,000 teachers in
California
to be unemployed
·
150
outstanding Temecula teachers could
lose their jobs
·
This
would happen at a time we’re
anticipating a severe shortage of
teachers in
California
It’s
Bad for Our Kids
·
California
already spends close to $1,900 less
per student than the national average.
·
Students
could be forced into classes with 1/3
more students
·
California
has
dropped from 43rd to 46th
in per student funding in the last two
years.
We need to go forward, not
backward
