A Wild Ride

What a difference a year makes. In June of 2006, I was working diligently with Bob Rollins on the transition from classroom teacher to your association president. In so doing, I could not have imagined how my professional and personal life would change, nor the impact those changes would have on me or my family. Gauging it all, both good and bad, I can earnestly say I do not regret the decision I made to run for this association's highest office. Because I know how hard our members work on behalf of the children in this community, it has been a privilege to serve you. As well, I want to thank each and every teacher who committed their energy to educating our young people in this community; Temecula is certainly blessed with much talent within the teaching ranks.

At times this position can be a very wild ride, with events taking place concurrently, the flurry of activity can be dizzying. Having a solid office manager in Martina Lechuga helps our organization immensely, but one lesson that must be learned by every leader is that decisions have reverberating impact, and that one should never expect those decisions to be well-received by everyone. Our Executive Board and Leadership Council have shown much confidence in the agenda that has been put forward, and deserve thanks not just from me, but from all teachers who they have served admirably in 2006-2007.
