CTA has partnered with Standard
Insurance Company to bring you

unexpected occur. Voluntary disability
and life insurance plans through
Standard Insurance Company include
many new enhancements - with no
increase in premiums - as well as new
conveniences such as online enrollment
and disability claim submission.
Eligibility:
CTA Member
Full time active
employee of a California educational
facility
With an annual
contract working at least 15 hours per
week.
If
you would like information or if you
would like to enroll Michael Coats
from The Standard will be visiting
schools in the district. Ask your site
leader if he will be coming to your
school or stop by the TVEA office
during one of the open houses.
NEW
TEACHERS
As
a new teacher to the district, you are
eligible to apply for disability
insurance through The Standard without
providing medical evidence.
This opportunity is available
only if you are a member of the
TVEA/CTA/NEA and if you apply within
the first 120 days of employment.
You may apply after the first
120 days however, you will need to
provide a medical history statement.
The
Standard rejects new teacher
disability applications for the
following reasons:
- If
the application is received after
the first 120 days of employment;
or
- If
membership to the TVEA/CTA/NEA
cannot be verified.
A
couple of steps to follow to avoid
denial of your application:
- Complete
a TVEA/CTA/NEA membership
enrollment form as soon as
possible. The form can be given to
your Site Leader or sent to TVEA
via district mail;
- Submit
your completed disability
application directly to The
Standard at:

Do not forward your
application to the district office
or TVEA office.
We do not assume
responsibility for the processing
of applications.
Make sure you retain a copy
of your application for your
records;
