CTA Scholarship for Dependent Children
The
California Teachers Association is
pleased to announce that applications
are now being accepted for the 2008
CTA Scholarship for Dependent
Children. Up to twenty-five (25) $5,000.00
scholarships will be awarded. One
scholarship is designated as the Ralph
J. Flynn Memorial Scholarship and is
awarded to the highest scoring
applicant.
In
order to assure eligibility and
consideration by the CTA Scholarship
Committee:
- Chapter
Presidents or designee must sign
the Membership Verification Form.
- The
application
must be complete.
- Applications
must be postmarked by February
8, 2008.
Eligibility
1.
Applicant must be claimed as
dependent status* on the current
year’s IRS forms. Applicant must
be the dependent child of an
active,** or retired California
Teachers Association member.
Applicants are also eligible if they
are claimed as dependents and are
the child of a deceased CTA member.
This scholarship is not available to
spouses of CTA members. *Per IRS
regulations. **Pursuant to CTA
Bylaws
2. Submit a complete application by
the deadline February 8, 2008. A
complete application consists of
pages 1-6 plus official transcripts.
3. High school grade point average
should reflect at least a 3.5
unweighted average. College
coursework should reflect high
academic achievement. Explain any
special circumstances related to
medical, physical or psychological
condition that may have affected
your grades.

five (5) $2,500.00 scholarships
will be awarded.
In
order to assure eligibility and
consideration by the CTA Scholarship
Committee:
- Chapter
Presidents or designee must sign
the Membership Verification Form.

application
must be complete.
- Applications
must be postmarked by February
8, 2008.
Eligibility
1.
Be a current “active*” member of
CTA (including members working on an
emergency credential). *Pursuant to
CTA Bylaws
2. Submit a complete application by

complete application consists of
pages 1-6 plus official transcripts.
3. College coursework should
demonstrate high academic
achievement. Explain any special
circumstances related to medical,
physical or psychological condition
which may have affected your grades.
Del A. Weber Scholarship for Dependent Children Attending Continuation High School/Alternative Education Programs

L. Gordon Bittle Memorial Scholarship for Student CTA
(SCTA)
The
California Teachers Association is
pleased to announce that applications
are now being accepted for the 2008 L.
Gordon Bittle Memorial Scholarship for
Student CTA (SCTA). Up to three
(3) $2,500.00 scholarships will
be awarded.
In
order to assure eligibility and
consideration by the CTA Scholarship
Committee:
- The
application
must be complete.
- Applications
must be postmarked by February
8, 2008.
Eligibility
1.
Be a current “active” member of
Student CTA (SCTA). This scholarship
is not available to those working in
schools as members of CTA. CTA
members (including those with an
emergency credential) should
complete the CTA Scholarship for
Members application form.
2. Be pursuing a career in public
education. Applicants may be in an
undergraduate, teacher credential or
graduate program.
3. Submit a complete application by
the deadline February 8, 2008. A
complete application consists of
pages 1-6 plus official transcripts.
4. High school grade point average
should reflect at least a 3.5

coursework should reflect high
academic achievement. Explain any
